Cinematic (Beatmaker/ Producer/ Engineer) is a man of few words, but lets the music speak for itself. Producing his own instrumental tracks and working with artists from various countries, his work has been featured on Vancouver’s local radio. Born in Hong Kong and growing up in Toronto during the golden era of Hip Hop, Cinematic fell in love with the music and culture. “I grew up playing the piano, violin and percussion, so I have a fair knowledge of music theory, but after being exposed to Hip Hop, I knew that I wanted to learn how to do music like that. ” It was not until later that he discovered that the records he loved were made by manipulating older records. “I started to hear something familiar in these records, music that my mother used to play in the house when I was younger. That is when I stumbled upon Sampling, and I haven’t looked back since.” Although he also plays a variety of instruments, Sampling remains to play a role in his productions. Transplanting to Vancouver, Cinematic lived and breathed music. He spent countless days and nights mastering the sampler, practicing the art of Crate Digging and learning to play new instruments, all while going to school to study Sound Engineering. “Learning the technical side of things allowed me to shape my music exactly how I envisioned it, taking my music to another level.” Combining creativity with technicality, Cinematic is a one-stop shop for artists looking for a unique sound.
