The Meisner Technique Studio
These days the best acting schools for aspiring actors in America are not just in New York or Los Angeles. Fortunately you now have many choices of where to live while the foundation to your dream is put into place.
One of the best acting schools in the world – The Meisner Technique Studio – is located at the heart of one of the world’s most desirable cities: San Francisco, California.

Founded by Sanford Meisner’s last teaching protégé, Jim Jarrett, and situated in the historic Presidio of San Francisco, The Meisner Technique Studio was built upon the same standards and respect for the craft of acting that Mr. Meisner stood for. His passion is exemplified in this quotation from one of his classes in 1988:

“Life beats down and crushes our souls and theater reminds us that we have one, at least the type of theater I’m interested in — that is, theater that moves an audience. Actors have the opportunity to literally impact the lives of people if they work on material with integrity. But these days, most actors simply want to be famous. Being an actor was never supposed to be about fame and money. Being an actor is a calling because you’ve been given the ability, the gift to inspire humanity. Think about that on the way to your soap opera audition.”

In 1987 Jim Jarrett embarked on a four-year journey with Sanford Meisner – two as a student in his professional, private class, then two more as the master teacher’s assistant and teacher-in-training. For the past twenty-five years, Jarrett has taught and toured throughout the world, and in 2006, he founded The Meisner Technique Studio in San Francisco – adding to his two other acting schools in Sun Valley, Idaho, and on the Island of Hawaii.

In his establishment of The Meisner Technique Studio, Jim Jarrett realized a promise that he’d made to Sanford Meisner many years before – to pass Sandy’s teachings as purely and authentically as possible to future generations.
