Xbox One/PlayStation 4 A Generation Ahead of Top-Spec PCs - Nick's Gaming View Episode #184

Xbox One/PlayStation 4 a generation ahead of top-spec PCs, Grand Theft Auto V premium bundles uncovered, and Electronic Arts announces their latest racing title, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW!

Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. Electronic Arts’ executive vice president and chief technical officer has released a bold statement regarding the upcoming Xbox One and PlayStation 4 by stating both consoles are “a generation ahead of the highest end PC on the market." With many of the top PCs on the market costing more than five times what consumers expect to pay for the next-generation consoles, I have a hard time believing such statement, understanding how the hardware is uniquely integrated rather than just pieced together as on PCs, I do see consoles offering the same, if not, better experience to that of the PC.

Unfortunately not making its way to the next generation of video game consoles, Grand Theft Auto V has uncovered two premium bundles launching alongside the standard release on September 17th. For the price of $79.99, the Special Edition of Grand Theft Auto V will include the game, a collectible steel book with never-before-seen artwork of Michael, Trevor, and Franklin, a 21.5” x 26.75” blueprint map showing off Los Santos and Blaine county, the location where Grand Theft Auto V takes place, various in-game perks such as special ability boosts, single-player Stunt Plane Trials, and bonus in-game items. Weighing in at $149.99, the Collector’s Edition will include everything that the Special Edition includes plus a Grand Theft Auto V-themed 10.75” x 8.5” security deposit bag with a logo key, Los Santos-branded hat made by New Era, classic characters to use within the game’s multiplayer, and an in-game garage to store custom vehicles. Must say, this is a pretty impressive package, but at the price of $149.99, I’m not too sure about the sales performance we’ll see. Regardless, those pre-order any edition of the game, including the standard, will be able to pilot the Atomic Blimp in-game vehicle upon launch September 17th.

Wrapping up Nick’s Gaming View, Electronic Arts has announced their latest racing title, Need for Speed: Rivals for release on current generation consoles November 19th with a next-generation release hitting next year. Developed using Electronic Art’s renowned Frostbite 3 engine, Need for Speed: Rivals will allow gamers to step into the shoes of a cop or racer with the police pursuing the racers for points and the racers evading the cops to also obtain points. Promising comprehensive customization, Need for Speed: Rivals seeks to outdo the franchise’s previous releases, but we will see later this year, if this becomes the case.
