Phulwa starring Sargun Mehta and Ajay Chaudhary. The show ran from Jan 10 2011 to Mar 16 2012. Produced by Swastik Pictures for Colors

This clip is from episode 225, that aired on 6th January 2012.

Abhay has harboured a hatred for the dacoit Phulwa ever since she murdered his half brother. In order to avenge his death Abhay became a part of Phulwa's band of dacoits by pretending to be a petty thief though he was actually an undercover police officer.

He manipulated Phulwa into falling in love with him only to then turn the tables and arrest her and her gang in a publicly humiliating manner. Phulwa manages to win in court though and gets out. Disturbed by the kind of bitter and mean person he has become, Abhay's fiancée, Inspector Aarti Bajaj, decides that she will help him reflect on his life by letting Phulwa take her place during her wedding with Abhay. The betrayal is discovered only after the wedding and by then it is too late. Phulwa is perfectly placed to exact her revenge on Abhay and his family. Phulwa, however, still has lingering feelings for Shatru, the identity Abhay had adopted when with her gang.

Abhay has no idea that Phulwa hadn't murdered his half-brother in cold blood, rather it was an act of self defence. In fact his father and half-brother were responsible for the killing of Phulwa's family and friends as a child which is why she ended up seeking refuge with a band of dacoits fighting against the oppressive rule of the thakurs of their land. Phulwa hates Abhay for his deception. After their marriage Abhay and Phulwa are forced to not only confront each others flaws but also come to the realisation that the person they imagined was their enemy isn't completely evil after all (though Abhay still doesn't know the truth).

Just prior to this sequence Abhay and Phulwa had finally reached the point where they were comfortable enough in each other's company (I loved that episode!) to bicker without bitterness and malice seeping in. On reaching home Phulwa falls prey to a trap laid by Abhay's father and gets injured.

In this sequence Abhay reminisces about how Phulwa tried to stop him from rescuing her from the burning room lest he get burnt too. He is touched by her concern and also troubled by it. Sitting by her bedside he wonders why he is being faced with this test. He prays that "dushman ko dushman hi rehne do varna bahur kamzor pad jaunga main" (let the enemy remain the enemy else my resolve will weaken) but it is too late. His heart is lost already.
