Michael Douglas gets throat cancer from going down on HPV in Basic Instinct

Michael Douglas might not be the first face that springs to mind when you think of HPV, but the actor recently admitted that his previous bout with throat cancer wasn't caused by a lifetime of smoking and drinking. It turns out, the tongue gymnastics that scored him his babe of a wife also might have earned him a walnut-sized tumor.

Douglas' admission came as a shock to many, but doctors have recorded a steady stream of new throat cancer patients even as smoking rates have dropped off. We suggest everyone protect their mouths, and bring a dental dam if you plan to watch Basic Instinct!
