Nobody ever wants to come across a swarm of bees as they can pose a deadly threat.

Tragically, a 62-year-old man in Moody, Texas was killed by Africanized bees. Larry Goodwin had been working near a brush pile on his neighbor’s property when he disturbed a killer bee hive which had taken up residence in a chicken coop.

The neighbor's two relatives tried to help but between them they got stung around 100 times. Emergency crews were called to the scene, but sadly it was too late. All efforts to resuscitate Goodwin proved to be futile. He was declared dead.

The victim’s daughter stated “If anybody has any brush or anything on their lands, please clear it, because they don't want to go through this. Nobody needs to go through this.”

Africanized Honey Bees go by killer bees due to the aggressive and vicious attacks. Their venom is not stronger than that of other honey bees, however they swarm in higher numbers.

Once bothered, the Africanized Honey Bees can remain irritated for a full 24 hours.
