Wearing gloves when committing a crime is an obvious trick known to thieves. But it’s not just the fingerprints that can identify someone.

Evidently, ear prints make a cop's job easier as well. French police recently connected a 26-year-old man to a ton of robberies that occurred in student housing.

The thefts all occurred in Lyon. The suspect was caught in the act during a robbery in February. Using technology that matched ear prints, law enforcement authorities were able to determine that he had also been involved in about 80 other larcenies.

The alleged culprit had reportedly placed his ear directly on the door of victim’s apartments while checking to see if anyone was inside.
Well that basic act left behind evidence for cops to pick up and ultimately use against him.

In 2010, a study was presented at the IEEE Fourth International Conference on Biometrics. It was revealed that the outer ear was potentially one of the most accurate ways to identify a person.

Human fingerprints are not always reliable as they can rub off or become calloused from hard labor.
