One eBay item up for grabs is body armor for a guinea pig. The scale-mail and accompanying small steel helmet make up the set.
There are plenty of adorable outfits on the market for virtually any pet. One eBay item up for grabs is body armor for a guinea pig.
Described as an eBay Giving Works charitable listing, 100 percent of the final selling price for the protective gear will go to a non-profit Virginia corporation – the Metropolitan Guinea Pig Rescue.
The seller gets the online audience’s attention by inquisitively noting “Is your pet guinea pig tired of wandering around the house unarmored and vulnerable? Do they get picked on by other guinea pigs?” The posting goes on claiming that the armor is a solution to those problems.
The scale-mail and accompanying small steel helmet make up the set. The scale chest and back piece are handmade, derived from polished steel scales and rings. It was then woven over the course of several weeks. The helmet was separately purchased at a Renaissance Faire.
The pieces were originally for the seller’s own pet guinea pig named Lucky as a stylish and unique way to offer protection. Sadly, Lucky passed away and the owner wants to sell the gear in honor of the original wearer.
Thus far, the armor has landed more than 50 bids.
