Rebels clash with government forces outside Aleppo

Rebels prepare for the fight in a town just outside Aleppo.

They are seeking to reverse gains made by loyalist forces in the commercial hub over the past two months.

The town sits between Aleppo and Idlib. Control of it would mean rebels could cut off supplylines for government forces based in Aleppo.

Rebels are using the weapons they have to change the dynamics on the ground.

Aleppo just south of Turkey has been contested since last July, when rebel brigades entered the city and captured about half of it. In recent weeks, government forces have been trying to reclaim ground.

The conflict in Syria has created a landscape where a tank can be seen anywhere -- and the death toll stands at at least 100,000.
