Good Samaritans can be found everywhere and across all walks of life.

Recently, a United States army specialist, Michael Menchaca was on the escalator at the Metro Center subway station in Washington D.C. when he noticed something on the tracks. He rushed to the scene and saw a man, strapped to a wheelchair, stuck on the train tracks.

Surveillance footage captured the troubling scene which occurred on July 4th. Michael immediately jumped off the platform to help but struggled with the seatbelt on the wheelchair.

He stated “Every second felt like 30 seconds, you know that kind of thing.” Another passenger saw what was going on and also jumped down to help.

Together the brave soldier and the good Samaritan were able to lift the man up and get him to safety.

The wheelchair bound man had been on the platform when he moved too close to the edge in order to read a sign. It was then that wheelchair fell on the tracks. Thankfully, the man only sustained minor injuries.
