Australian woman gored at Pamplona bull run

Medics rush to help an Australian woman covered in blood after she was gored in the chest during the last day of Spain's famous bull running festival.

Spanish officials say the 23-year-old was in very serious condition as of Sunday following surgery.

She suffered several fractured ribs and damage to her right lung.

The festival takes place on the cobbled streets of Pamplona in the country's northeast.

It has run almost every year since 1592 -- runners eventually joined the event in the 1800s.

Fourteen people have died during festivities in the last 100 years.

This year, several people were injured, including an American who had his spleen removed and others who were trampled under fellow runners.
