This is the first detailed view for outsiders of the scene in Canada where a runaway train and its cargo of crude oil devastated the small town of Lac-Megantic.
Police allowed a view from the perimeter of the disaster area.
The 1.4 square kilometre epicentre where the train and its 72 tankers exploded into flames is still considered too dangerous for all but investigators and emergency workers.
Fifty people were killed in the accident on July 6th.
More than a week later not all the victims have been found.
The investigators work in 15-minute shifts because of the high temperatures at the scene and the stench of fuel.
The scale of the destruction on land isn't the only problem for the emergency crews.
Oil has leaked into the nearby lake as well.
The train which caused the destruction had been parked for the night nearly 13 kilometres outside the town.
