Metro 2033 is a stealth-based first-person shooter based on a Russian novel. Players take the role of Artyom, a man who survived the nuclear apocalypse by retreating into the subway systems. That's where mankind now resides, hoping to wait out the nuclear winter and all the beasts that have occupied the surface. But surivival isn't a waiting game. Monsters burrow into the tunnels, attack survivor strongholds and make life a living hell underground. Players must have a steady aim and nerves of steel to last in the dark, nightmarish Metro. Metro 2033 incorporates survival horror elements and stealth into its gameplay, encouraging players to conserve ammunition and go unseen as often as possible. Artyom's weapons are limited, and he must also rely on his gas mask on the terrifying occasions when he has to surface. A sequel, Metro: Last Light, was released in 2013. This video review features video gameplay footage of Metro 2033 for the Xbox 360 and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
