Mars: War Logs is an action RPG similar to Mass Effect, only with less emphasis on shooting. In fact, where Mass Effect is a shooter, Mars: War Logs is more like a 3D brawler. The game features the same kind of morality dynamic with branching dialogue, as well as a surprisingly bold story. Players assume the role of Temperance, a prisoner in a war between guilds on Mars. Centuries after its settlement, the planet has been torn apart by the scarcity of water, giving its people no choice but to fight for survival. Temperance meets a young prisoner named Innocence, and together, they plan to escape. Mars: War Logs features some graphic content, proving that no matter what planet you're on, war is hell. The game is built upon a scavenging system that allows players to loot their environment and use the parts to upgrade their weapons and armor. Even a broken pipe can be a weapon with the right attachments. Mars: War Logs is a single-player RPG. This video review features video gameplay footage of Mars: War Logs on the PlayStation Network for the PlayStation 3 and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
