Extinction Agenda EX on the Xbox Live Arcade for the Xbox 360 developed by Extend Studio and published by Aksys Games. Inspired by the great action-platformers of the past, particularly Mega Man X, A.R.E.S. Extinction Agenda EX is a 16-bit shooter for a modern age. The game tells the story of Ares and Tarus. An evil robot named Zytron is trying to destroy mankind, and it's up to the two of them to stop him. Each level is a gaunlet of classic action-platform sequences, including challenging enemy placement and lots of difficult obstacles. The game also borrows a classic Metroidvania element through the use of foreshadowing, showing players areas and items that can't be reached until later in the game. The levels are meant to be played multiple times in order to find and collect their hidden goodies. Power-ups are scattered all over the place, and Ares and Tarus will need them to stop Zytron. It's not the most original game, but it doesn't need to be. It does a classic gameplay style and does it well. A.R.E.S. Extinction Agenda EX is a single-player game. This video review features video gameplay footage of A.R.E.S. Extinction Agenda EX on the Xbox Live Arcade for the Xbox 360 and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
