Video captures air raids, clashes near Syrian chemical weapons site

The scramble for life in Syria as smoke fills the streets after a government bombing campaign targets rebel held areas close to a major chemical weapons facility.

The footage comes as the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize Friday. The group is is due to visit 20 sites across Syria to verify the destruction of 1,000 tonnes of chemical agents.

The video which can not be independently verified appears to show the aftermath of an air raid in the town of Safira.

The town sits on the edge of a sprawling military complex believed to hold chemical weapons production facilities.

The army has fought hard to retain control of complex and is now trying to recapture the town.
