It Could Be Raining Diamonds on Jupiter and Saturn

According to their research, two scientists believe that both Saturn and Jupiter could be packed full of diamonds.

If you love diamonds then you should know that a team of scientists believes that both Saturn and Jupiter could be packed full of diamonds.

Gems moving deep into the planets’ atmospheres could even become liquefied along the way, turning into diamond rain and seas.

There were two primary factors that helped inform the scientists’ assertion that the presence of diamonds is possible.

One involved new discoveries in carbon behavior, particularly pertaining how it adapts to high-pressure environments.

The other was having more precise pressure and temperature information about the planets available.

Those advances paired with the observation of carbon-producing storms, led to the determination that the existing planetary conditions were conducive to the natural production of diamonds.

And not just a handful or two. The scientists are talking millions of tons.

One of them even referred to a possible planetary wonder he called a “diamondberg”.

The duo has also recently published a book called “Alien Seas” about the commercial possibilities of space diamonds.

In it, they paint a picture of a future in which mining robots are dispatched to Saturn and bring back loads of sparkling gems.
