Southwest Airlines flight diverted after bomb threat

A Southwest Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Austin, Texas, was diverted and forced to land in Phoenix, Arizona, on Monday after a bomb threat. According to reports, the Boeing 737-700 was carrying 143 passengers when an unidentified man called the Los Angeles police department talking about a bomb threat against the commercial flight.

F-16 fighter jets from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson were scrambled to monitor the flight. The plane was diverted and landed safely in Phoenix where the passengers were evacuated at an isolated location away from the terminal. A bomb squad and sniffer dogs then checked the aircraft. According to NBC News, Phoenix police and FBI bomb technicians searched the plane and found no explosive devices. Law enforcement agents also interviewed all of the passengers. An investigation is underway to determine those responsible for the threat, Fox News reported.
