Deadly Chinese poultry plant and factory fire kills at least 112

An explosion at a Chinese poultry factory has left at least 112 dead and scores more injured or unaccounted for. The explosion occurred during an early morning shift change at the factory. It is estimated there were about 350 people on site.

An explosion near the locker room cut electricity and alerted workers to a problem. Thick black smoke quickly spewed through the narrow and complicated interior of the prefabricated workers' building. Workers were trapped inside the burning building by locked front gates. Rescue workers, who were reportedly late to the scene, rescued about 50 victims who were sent to hospital and began the task of recovering other victims.
