The bizarre case was brought to the attention of police after a man contacted investigators, telling them that someone, other than himself, had written a check for goods at a Walmart in York.
When the victim was questioned, he claimed he had allowed a pregnant friend of his daughters to live at his residence, as he was away most of the time working as a cross country truck driver.
York County Attorney Candace Dick described the situation stating “When he returned home, he kicked her out when he said other people had been living there, too. Later, he found out that the pregnant woman was a man.”
That male was identified as 20-year-old Bradlee Pratt. He reportedly used the stolen check from the victim to purchase a stereo system valued at $859. He later returned the goods for cash.
He was convicted in court of second degree forgery and sentenced to serve over a year of jail time.
