Interactive. Why should the Arkham series be limited to home consoles? If something is good, it's worth having on the go. And that's the philosophy driving Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, the 3DS and Vita answer to the consoles' Batman: Arkham Origins. Unlike its bigger cousin, however, Blackgate is a 2.5D action platformer. Batman has the same counter-based fighting mechanics, but they're applied in a more straightforward—and flatter—fashion. The game tells its own story, picking up several months after the conclusion of Arkham Origins. Batman captures a sexy thief in leather. We'll call her Catwoman. She offers him a deal, though. If he lets her go, she'll sneak into Blackgate prison, which has been taken over by prisoners, and provide intel. That way, the Dark Knight can save the day. Unlike Arkham Origins, Blackgate features comic-styled cut scenes, which unfortunately are not applied to the game itself. Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate is a single-player game on the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita. This video review features video gameplay footage of Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate for the Nintendo 3DS and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
