How do you play Guitar Hero on a handheld? That’s the question the team at Vicarious Visions had to answer for their blockbuster series to be released on Nintendo’s blockbuster handheld. And they came up with the Guitar Grip, a brilliant piece of accessory design and a brutal test of your arm’s tolerance for pain. Nonetheless, the Guitar Grip enabled Guitar Hero: On Tour, a guitar-less version of Guitar Hero that works better than the idea has any right to. The game includes standard Guitar Hero modes and gameplay, but shrunk down to the Nintendo DS. Using the Guitar Grip, players strum the touch screen and press the fret buttons on the top of the Guitar Grip, creating an experience that’s like a guitar crossed with a PDA. Guitar Hero: On Tour includes 25 songs, including Ozzy Osbourne, Skid Row and Maroon 5. One of these things is not like the other. Guitar Hero: On Tour is a single and multiplayer game exclusive to the Nintendo DS. This video review features video gameplay footage of Guitar Hero: On Tour for the Nintendo DS and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
