Pop'n Music 2 represents a somewhat different direction for Konami's Bemani series of music games: Whereas Dance Dance Revolution took its dancing style rather seriously and Beatmania took its electronica rather seriously, Pop'n Music feels like more of a party-style, get-folks-around-and-have-fun game. Which isn't to say it doesn't bring a challenge, or boast a tracklist as impressive as its Bemani bretheren, it's just... a bit more colorful, a bit lighter in tone, and for whatever reason it seems dead-set against actually telling you the name of any song, requiring instead that you remember its genre.
