"The shelling .. would have been easier than this storm" - Syrian refugee in Lebanon

This is home now. A young man tries to secure a tent in Lebanon. But there's little protection from a winter storm sweeping through the country.

These are the lucky ones. Syrians who escaped the war. Now they are losing a battle against the elements.

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) SYRIAN REFUGEE, JINED AL-HUSSEIN, SAYING:

"It is cold in the rain. What we have is hunger and cold and as you can see there is nothing else. I have been here for a week. We are now living in the rain and snow with no one helping us with anything, no one at all."

Lebanon is home to at least 835,000 refugees. The government says it is "trying its best" to help. But it is not enough for some.
