Southwest Plane Lands at Wrong Airport, Almost Barrels Down Cliff

Unfortunately for travelers on Southwest Airline’s recent flight 4013, things took an unexpected and baffling turn. The plane somehow landed at the wrong airport and came far too close to a cliff edge.
While flight delays are expected, all passengers do expect their plane to reach the correct destination.

Said one of the passengers onboard “We landed very abruptly with the pilot applying the brakes very hard. We smelled burnt rubber from the stop.”
The plane departed from Chicago’s Midway Airport on a Sunday evening. It was supposed to land at Branson airport located in Missouri, but instead it touched ground at Taney County airport, less than 10 miles away from the intended destination.
Taney County airport’s runway is about half the size of Branson’s leaving little room for the massive aircraft’s landing. That size difference most likely contributed to the plane’s near miss of the cliff’s edge.
The flight reportedly carried 5 crew members and over 120 passengers. Thankfully everyone was safe.
It remains unknown why the plane landed at the wrong airport. (3,5,1) The Federal Aviation Administration has launched an investigation into the incident.
