Google Nest Acquisition - Google Is Going Hardware

Nest marks yet another purchase into emerging fields of hardware. They recently acquired Motorola and Boston Dynamics, the company responsible for the incredibly creepy and incredibly life-like robots which saw which saw funding and oversight by the US Department of Defense. Google is clearly trying to claim a big stake in the smart future of the physical world, and we imagine that all of these purchases play a part in that journey. We have no idea what Google's plan is to do with humanoid robots and smart thermostats, but the prospects are almost as exciting as they are terrifying. As long as this doesn't mean we need a Google+ account to adjust the temperature on our thermostats, we're okay with it for now. Google plans to be pretty hands off with Nest as a company for the foreseeable future, so we're curious to see what else they come up with.
