Depressed bride sues hair salon after failed perm 'ruins' wedding
  • 10 years ago
A Japanese bride from Takamatsu Kagawa filed a complaint to the local District Court on January 10 alleging negligence against a hair salon owner after he allegedly ruined her hair ahead of her wedding, according to a Thursday report in Asahi Shimbun. She demanded 4.9 million yen (US$49,000) in compensation.

The woman is said to have got her hair permed three times during the first seven months of 2013 at a salon in Kagawa Prefecture. She claims the failed treatment left her with just 10 inches of hair after she had 15 inches of damaged hair chopped off. She also had to change the outfits for her planned wedding in July and said it will take at least 6 years to recover her once beautiful long hair.

The woman is seeking compensation for mental suffering and the subsequent treatments she needed following the failed perm. The salon owner said he'd take responsibility for part of the failure. But that he needed the court's help to figure out how much responsibility he should bear.
