Sid Meier's Civilization V, like the four before it, attempts to boil down the entirety of human history into a solid cube of gameplay, featuring a litany of historical world leaders, every social and technological development you can think of (except for the invention of Ecto Cooler), and most importantly, several opponents on each map with whom to coexist, battle, or bribe. We've built this civilization four times before. We've become quite good at it.
