Actor and activist Ben Affleck is scheduled to testify before the US Senate.

He’ll be speaking on the topic of the Democratic Republic of Congo before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

This will mark the third time Affleck has spoken on Capitol Hill about the issues of the troubled nation.

His last appearance was before the House Armed Services Committee at which time he talked about the implications the Congolese situation could have on American security.

That was in 2012, the same year he appeared with Hilary Clinton at a conference about child mortality rates, of which the Congo has among the highest.

Prior to that, he addressed the House Foreign Relations subpanel on Africa, Global Health and Human Rights.

When not giving testimony to government panels, Affleck runs his own organization, The Eastern Congo Initiative.

The group is involved in getting funding directly to activists and community workers who are in direct contact with the Democratic Republic of Congo’s suffering citizens.

Affleck’s expertise was also made available to the House of Representatives for their upcoming discussions on matters involving the country, but they declined.
