Russians split over approval of troops on Ukrainian soil

Russian citizens are split about their government's approval of a plan to deploy its military in Ukraine.

(SOUNDBITE) (Russian) FINANCE UNIVERSITY STUDENT FROM MOSCOW, 19, KIRILL KHACHATURYAN, SAYING:

"Ukraine is in a situation where Putin wants to take back Crimea, and he will do everything possible to do that. This is in the interest of our country, but not in the interest of all Ukrainians."

All 87 members of the upper house of parliament voted to support the proposal, which came from President Vladimir Putin.

The proposal permits armed forces to deploy in Ukraine until the socio-political situation normalizes.
