Ukraine's 'Iron Brigade' readies for combat

Armed men thought to be Russians drove a truck into a Ukrainian missile-defence post in Crimea.

A Ukrainian military official said they took it over without a shot being fired.

(SOUNDBITE)(Ukrainian) UKRAINIAN BASE COMMANDER, LIEUTENANT-COLONEL VITALY ONYSCCHENKO, SAYING:

"They intruded from both sides, the territory of the army base is big. One truck came from the side of the checkpoint and another one came from the munitions gate. Groups of people, from 35-60 people, have intruded by breaking these gates and also over the fence, they warned us they could use firearms."

With tensions running high, Ukraine's "Iron Brigade" prepares for possible combat.

Tanks are lined up. Machines are loaded with ammunition.

Soldiers have been training daily, in case they're called upon to fight Russian troops.
