Jilted Taiwanese lover seeks revenge by sexually shaming ex-girlfriend

A Taipei man faces charges after he allegedly mailed letters with sexually shaming messages written on the envelopes and threatened to hire sound trucks to blast rude messages about his ex-girlfriend's sex life in front of her home, prosecutors say.

The now 22-year-old woman, surnamed Liu, had a son with her now 39-year-old ex-boyfriend, surnamed Yang, six years ago when the two were living together.

Two years ago, the young mother moved out with her child to her parents' place in Ilan (宜蘭), in eastern Taiwan, after a fallout with Yang.

Liu's parents disapproved of the relationship and prevented Yang from visiting his son. Yang sought revenge by sending 22 letters to Liu with insulting comments on the envelopes that mailmen could read, including "Liu can achieve orgasm without a sex toy," "She is a whore" and "Your new boyfriend must be treating you quite well in bed."

Yang also posted threatening signs near Liu's parents place that said, "Whoever cuts off my relationship with my family will have to pay for this."

Liu's family finally fought back and called the police. According to the results of the police investigation, Yang even threatened to hire sound trucks to blare demeaning announcements in front of Liu's family's house.

Yang has been charged by the Ilan District Prosecutors Office with libel and making threats. If convicted, he faces up to two years' imprisonment.
