Events held in Athens and Tokyo against racial discrimination

Around two thousand young people have formed a human chain around the Parthenon in Athens, to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

They held banners and joined hands in front of the ancient temple to relay a message of tolerance.

The day, instituted by the United Nations, was also marked in Tokyo.

Chanting anti-racism slogans, over one hundred Japanese protesters marched through a shopping district in the city.
