Saints Row review. Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Saints Row for the Xbox 360 developed by Volition, Inc. and published by THQ.

Before the Saints were running the free world and battling aliens, they were sort of comparatively tame. Although it certainly has some of the craziness and humor that would eventually define the series, the original Saints Row is a much more down-to-Earth affair. In fact, it’s basically just a Grand Theft Auto alternative. This open-world action game is built on that familiar GTA foundation of exploring freely, stealing cars and shooting guns, but it places that gameplay formula in a larger and more refined game than the early GTA titles. The game’s tone falls somewhere between mild parody and hip-hop, a far cry from the outlandish satire of Saints Row IV, but still packs in lots of jokes and the tongue-in-cheek approach you’d expect from Saints Row. This is a single-player game with online multiplayer.

This video review features video gameplay footage of Saints Row for the Xbox 360 and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
