Beyond Oasis review. Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Beyond Oasis for the SEGA Genesis developed by Ancient and published by SEGA.

Although the Super Nintendo was known for more legendary RPGs than the Genesis, Beyond Oasis is no mirage. This is a top-shelf action RPG, and yes, it’s on the Genesis. As the young and adventurous Prince Ali—genuflect, show some respect—you embark on an epic journey to save your kingdom. You do so with a sword and magic, and you have to fight bats. Sound familiar? It should. Beyond Oasis follows the same blueprint as several Super NES classics, such as Secret Of Mana and even A Link To The Past. Prince Ali’s combat skills are unique, however, as he can string together fast-paced kicks and combos almost like a beat ‘em up. He can also summon magical spirits for special attacks. A water spirit, for example, can be summoned from any source of water in the environment and can perform water-based magic attacks. These magic spirits are also used for clever environmental puzzles, which gives it its own unique flavor. Beyond Oasis is a single-player action RPG.

This video review features video gameplay footage of Beyond Oasis for the SEGA Genesis and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
