A Taiwanese man faces jail for sexually assaulting a college student after spiking her coffee with drugs.

54-year-old suspect Su Shao-Cheng (蘇紹誠) was a neighbor to the young woman, a college senior who lived on the same floor in a building near Dayeh University, in Changhua, Taiwan.

On New Year's Eve last year, Su brought a cup of spiked coffee to her. After the student lost consciousness, the man then began groping and kissing her body and eventually raped her. The young woman was awake but was too weak to resist.

By the time the woman regained full consciousness, the suspect had already left.

The district court of Changhua said Su had caused physical and psychological trauma to the victim but showed no regret. He was sentenced to 3 years and 10 months in jail for rape and sexual assault yesterday.
