A new onesie has been created and it has space for Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi and NFC connections.

If you’re one of the many people who can’t bear to be offline for even short periods of time, there may be a new option in your future. A new piece of clothing has been created called the BB.Suit, which has Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi and NFC connectivity built in.

The garment is knitted using an innovative 3D technique with conductive copper cables throughout and electronic chips hidden in the pockets. Essentially, the wearer of the onesie is turned into a human hotspot.

Given that the BB.Suit is still in the beginning stages, there are some issues. Wearable comfort and cleaning challenges have yet to be worked out, and the long, weaved outer design is not exactly high fashion.

However, that weaved element is necessary, as the onesie is constructed with two layers of cotton to protect, conceal and route the inner cables. Fashion designer Borre Akkersdijk is the creator of the BB.Suit.

He recently unveiled the garment at the South by Southwest Music Conference and Festival and allowed attendees to upload songs to the suit and track it on Google Maps. Akkersdijk acknowledges more development is needed and wants to work on creating a line of smart clothing.

He remarked ‘In the future it could be as normal as your cell phone and we will talk about the iPhone like we do about the fax machine.’
