U.S. climber disappointed with loss of sherpas but will return to Everest

A week after an avalanche killed 16 sherpas in Nepal, climbers return to the capital from the base camp of Mount Everest.
Many expeditions abandoned camp this week after the single deadliest disaster ever on the Himalayan mountain.
Among those returning is American mountaineer Joel Schauer.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) MOUNTAINEER, JOEL SCHAUER, SAYING:
"I'm disappointed with the loss of the sherpas, they work so hard on the hill. It was nothing that could be controlled. It was an icefall, it was an avalanche in the icefall. And we watched it happen that day."
Despite the incident, Schauer said he would return to finish what he started.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) MOUNTAINEER, JOEL SCHAUER, SAYING:
"Will I return again? Yeah I will return to Everest, for my own sense of accomplishment."
The incident has highlighted the disproportionate risks that sherpas run for a few thousand dollars to help foreign climbers reach the summit.
