X-Men Legends review. Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of X-Men Legends for the PlayStation 2 developed by Raven Software and published by Activision.

Marvel’s X-Men hadn’t had the best of luck with their video games over the year, but X-Men Legends was totally worth the wait. This huge action RPG puts players in control of their favorite X-Men, from Wolverine and Cyclops to Storm and Rogue, as they go about all the usual RPG business. Slash through enemies, level up and dungeon crawl…and do it with mutants. That’s awesome. In terms of its gameplay and design, X-Men Legends is similar to many other action RPGs. There’s nothing terribly original about this game, but it is extremely well done. Players have a huge list of upgrades and moves to add to their characters’ arsenals, and the impact on the gameplay is immense. Much like a game like inFamous, much of the draw of X-Men Legends is simply seeing what carnage you can cause. You’re overpowered, but that’s part of the fun. X-Men Legends is a single-player game with local cooperative multiplayer.

This video review features video gameplay footage of X-Men Legends for the PlayStation 2 and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
