Senior prank police bust: 60 arrested in New Jersey school vandalism

More than 60 New Jersey high schoolers were arrested Thursday morning while vandalizing Teaneck High School as part of a senior prank.
Students entered the school around 1 a.m. when a student already inside opened the door for them. They wreaked havoc on the property, flipping desks, urinating in hallways, and greasing doorknobs with petroleum jelly.
Students had been in the school for over an hour before police shortly before 2:30 a.m. Some students tried running away, while others hid in classrooms, as police responded to a burglary alarm that went off at the school.
Police watched some of the vandalism via closed-circuit security cameras as hit was happening. Students thought they could avoid trouble with law enforcement by claiming it was just a senior class prank.
About 10 officers responded to the school and had to make several trips in police vans to transport the students. School administrators arrived at the scene and spoke with students restrained in handcuffs.
38 juveniles were involved and were released to their parents. The other 24 were over the age of 18 and may face burglary, trespassing, and criminal mischief charges.
