Times Square Recreated In A Moscow Mall

Russia now has its very own Times Square, albeit a scaled down version, in a new shopping mall.

Times Square, with all its lights and dazzle, attracts millions of tourists to New York City. Russia now has its very own Times Square, albeit a scaled down version, in a new shopping mall.

The lighting business, Royal Philips, more commonly referred to as Phillips, helped the shopping complex make the replica of the Big Apple landmark a reality. The result is a super flashy area, complete with the McDonald’s logo and jumbo TV screens.

Phillips supplied ridiculous amounts of lighting for the spot on model at the newly built mall in Moscow called VEGAS Crocus City. The company utilized LED façade lights, light panels along with HD-screens and tediously meshed them into the interior of the mall to achieve the desired vibrant, stunning effect.

The media display features animation, graphics and HD video content, mimicking the real thing.

The Head of Philips Lighting in Russia and CIS commented “We used innovations that have never been used before in this market, for instance we designed a unique LED decoration using the latest generation of Philips Color Kinetics..”

The vice-president of Crocus City Group seemed to be happy with the end result, saying the lighting and the model symbolize ‘remarkable opportunities in commercial application’.
