Israeli air strike kills Gaza militant after rocket fire

Israel carries out a deadly air strike on Gaza Wednesday night killing at least one person. The attack came hours after militants there fired their first rocket into Israel since the formation of a Palestinian unity government.

The Israeli army says it targeted a militant in the Gaza Strip planning attacks on Israel. Residents say one militant was killed and two other people were wounded.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the rocket fire into Israel. It caused no damage or injuries.

After past rocket attacks, Israel has blamed Hamas. But this time Israel also criticized Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas of the Fatah party, whose authority had been limited to the West Bank until the unity deal was reached.
