Nearly 50 riders were left stuck on an attraction at SeaWorld San Diego. A mechanical malfunction caused the 320-foot-tall Skytower to stop working on Sunday.

Reportedly forty-six riders and two SeaWorld staffers were stranded near the top of the ride for four hours. Fortunately the air conditioning on Skytower was operational so the riders weren’t sweating in the heat.

Park staffers stayed in touch with riders to ensure they were doing all right. Water and snacks were also handed out to them. The ride came down shortly before 7:30 in the evening.

Following the incident, SeaWorld communications director David Koontz commented “With guest safety as our top priority, park engineers spent four hours trouble-shooting the problem before restoring power to the Skytower and safely returning the 46 guests to the ride loading area.”

Although SeaWorld officials brought the ride down successfully, firefighters were dispatched to the scene as a precaution.
