'The Anomaly': Noel Clarke's race against time in sci-fi puzzle

‘The Anomaly’ is a sci-fi thriller in which a man lives two parallel lives. During his brief moments of consciousness in one life, he has to investigate his darker existence.
The movie is directed by British actor Noel Clarke, who won the Laurence Olivier Award for Most Promising Performer in 2003 and was awarded a BAFTA Orange Rising Star Award in 2009.
Clarke described the film’s plot: “The film is about Ryan Reeves who is an ex-soldier who wakes up in the back of a van and is confronted by a young boy, and helps save the boy and realises he had more to do with the boy being in the van than he thought. And only has nine minutes and 47 seconds to figure out what’s going on. And the film is told in those nine minutes and 47 second segments.”

The traumatised veteran, played by Noel Clarke himself, becomes the unwitting victim of mind control experiments.
Ryan keeps jumping in and out of reality, waking up in London and New York and racing against the clock to figure out what is happening.
Asked what he would do if he just had nine minutes and 47 seconds to live, Clarke replied: “Well, I probably just spend it with my kids. If I knew that’s all I had left then I definitely spend it with them. I’d probably leave them after eight minutes so they didn’t have to see me die or anything like that. Because that could probably scar them forever. But if that’s all I had left, that’s what I would do.”
The low-budget film also stars Brian Cox, Luke Hemsworth and American actors Alexis Knapp and Ian Somerhalder, best known for his role in the TV drama ‘The Vampire Diaries’.
Critics say the film cobbles together elements from ‘Total Recall’, ‘The Matrix’ and others – but it has also been described as a “nicely ambitious genre” movie.
‘The Anomaly’ was released in the UK and Ireland on July 4, and is due out in the Philippines and Vietnam later this month.
