Typhoon Neoguri Hits the Shores of Okinawa

Japan braced itself as Typhoon Neoguri made landfall on the southern island of Okinawa on Tuesday, July 8. The typhoon was downgraded from super typhoon status on July 8 but is still predicted to be one of the most powerful storms to hit Japan in a decade. Forecasters have warned of torrential rain, 40-foot waves and wind gusts up to 150 mph.This video shows strong waves pounding the coastline as the storm arrives in Okinawa around 9:30 a.m. on July 8.
