Namibian athlete Beata Naigambo was in the closing stages of the Commonwealth Games event on a damp day in Glasgow when it all went horribly wrong. Despite being an experienced marathon runner who finished in the top 40 at the London and Beijing Olympics, her body appeared to give up on her.
She collapsed and, clearly distraught, was unable to continue despite being so close to the finish.
