After 11 days of action across 17 sports, the Commonweath Games ended with a bang at Scotland's Hampden Park.

Glasgow 2014 games have been hailed as "the standout Games in the history of the movement" by Commonwealth Games Federation President Prince Imran.

England topped the medal table for the first time in 28 years, with Australia and Canada coming in second and third respectively.

Scotland the host finished fourth.

Glaswegian singer Lulu opened up the end ceremony.

Australian singer Kylie Minogue added some glamour to the party-like atmosphere, giving the crowd a glimpse of what awaits them in the next games on the Gold Coast in four years time.

The ceremony finally came to a close when the audience and athletes from 71 Commonwealth nations and territories joined a lone piper in singing a mass rendition of Auld Lang Syne.
