Celebs speak up in Scottish independence debate

A rising number of famous Scots, and other celebrities, have gone public with their views on whether Scotland should become independent and leave the United Kingdom come September 18th.

In the Nay-sayers camp, "Harry Potter" author and Edinburgh-resident J.K. Rowling wrote on her own website that after reading many sources "I have come to the conclusion that while independence might give us opportunities - any change brings opportunities - it also carries serious risks."

She also donated 1 million pounds to the "Better Together" campaign that is against Scottish independence.

Joining her in her view is Rolling Stones front man Mick Jagger who is among 200 British stars who signed a letter urging Scotland to remain in the union.

Also against the break-up is former Beatle Paul McCartney and legendary musician David Bowie.

But an independent Scotland has some high-profile supporters as well - namely former James Bond star Sean Connery, a longtime Scottish nat
