India's Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) will face the first test of its last phase at around 2.30pm today when the main liquid engine of the spacecraft is expected to fire for four seconds. If the main engine fires, the Orbiter will be ready to enter the Martian orbit on September 24. The last phase will position the orbiter only 423 kilometers from the surface of the planet.
