Students Start Campaign Encouraging Urination In Shower To Save Water

Students at the University of East Anglia in Norwich have started a campaign called Go with the Flow that is encouraging students to urinate in the shower every morning to save water. East Anglia reportedly gets only two thirds of the rainfall compared to the average in other parts of England, so water conservation is an important issue, considering the high rate of housing development.

Students at the University of East Anglia in Norwich have started a campaign called Go with the Flow that is encouraging students to urinate in the shower every morning to save water from flushing the toilet.

After the success of a similar campaign in Brazil, two students representing the University of East Anglia at Npower’s Future Leaders Challenge also decided that this seemed like a way that everyone could help conserve resources.

Chris Dobson, one of the students who came up with the campaign idea is quoted as saying: "With 15,000 students at UEA, over a year we would save enough water to fill an Olympic size pool 26 times over. Imagine how big an impact it could have if we could get everyone in East Anglia, or even the UK, to change their morning habits.”

East Anglia reportedly gets only two thirds of the rainfall compared to the average in other parts of England. That combined with the high rate of housing development there makes water conservation an important issue.

According to Dobson, people either love or hate the idea, but the campaign group is reportedly giving away gift vouchers for the first people who commit to participating.
